Amidst the ongoing tax debate over the future of many of the expiring provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, this webinar focuses on an age expansion of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) for workers not raising children at home, also known as the ‘childless EITC’.

Young adults have been historically left out of important tax policies despite facing similar financial challenges in meeting their basic needs and building savings as other low-wage workers. An expansion of the childless EITC offers one way to bolster young adults’ economic security and mobility in the labor market and support for millions of young workers with modest incomes currently left out.

Experts from Young Invincibles, Columbia University’s Center on Social Policy and Poverty and the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center discussed the legislative history of the EITC, including the age limits of the childless EITC, how young workers are currently faring financially, and the income and anti-poverty impacts of modifying the EITC age limits to support young workers’ adult financial health.
