Lily S. Johnson is a Doctoral Research Assistant at the Center on Poverty and Social Policy and a doctoral student in Sociology at Columbia University. Her research explores how neighborhood organizational conditions, social networks, and institutional decision-making shape inequality and opportunity. She is currently working on an extension of the Poverty Tracker examining whether the organizational conditions of neighborhoods, including the number and nature of businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies, moderate the relationship between neighborhood poverty and residents’ material hardship and health.
