CPSP Co-Director Irwin Garfinkel Retires

Co-Director Irwin Garfinkel recently announced his retirement after seven years at the helm of the Center on Poverty and Social Policy. He is stepping away from his leadership role, but will remain connected to the center’s work.

“Irv and I created this center together to provide opportunities to bring like-minded researchers together to produce rigorous and actionable research. The center has enormously benefited from Irv’s leadership and scholarship and we are grateful for his continued contribution to the center’s research.” —Christopher Wimer

“Creating the Center on Poverty and Social Policy at Columbia together with Chris Wimer has been wonderful for me. It is both a bookend and capstone to my career, which began at the Institute for Research on Poverty at Wisconsin. The center is in good hands with Chris, who will continue to lead the work.”—Irv Garfinkel
